Best Moderately Priced Restaurants Kent Part 4

Welcome back to the fourth part of this mini series of articles about the best moderately priced restaurants in Kent, according to their reviews on Trip Advisor. So let’s continue straight away with more reasonable places to eat in Kent…

The Poet
Maidstone Road, Matfield, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent TN12 7JH

Liz from Heathfield gives her review about her experience at The Poet in Royal Tunbridge Wells, “First time visit and what a fabulous surprise. Been to other pubs in the village but this really was a Sunday lunch like no other and for a reasonable price for 3 courses. The location is lovely and you will receive a warm welcome. Pre lunch drinks meant my husband was spoilt for choice with the incredible gin selection. There are a whole board to choose from!”

Liz goes onto to say, “The starters were excellent and I found it difficult to choose. All beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. The main course was a choice of meat or fish or vegetarian- 5 options and the vegetables were served in the centre of the table. I could not manage a dessert but the rest of our party did and all were very impressed. The service was first class. We were not rushed and the chef came out to speak to each table after he’d finished service. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying a meal that is not Sunday lunch with eager anticipation. Highly recommend but make sure you book in advance.”

Fish on the Green
Church Lane, Bearsted Green, Bearsted, Maidstone, Kent ME14 4EJ

Read John from Rainham view of the Fish on the Green, “I have been having lunch at ‘Fish on the Green for 2 or 3 years now. That’s about 9 or 10 times. I have always found the service to be excellent ( lovely waitresses). The fish is always cooked to perfection. There is always Hake, which is always great. Would recommend the Oysters Rockefeller or Fritto Misto di mare as starters.” John goes onto say, “I have never been disappointed with bream, brill, sea bass, plaice or hake as a main. They do not charge ‘Rick Stein’ prices. A great place to eat.”

La Villetta
8 Pudding Lane, Maidstone, Kent ME14 1LN

The following La Villetta customer review comes from Cathy and she says, “How great to find a proper Italian restaurant in Maidstone instead of the numerous chains churning out things out of a packet! La Villetta is just that. Lovely staff and fantastic freshly cooked food which is full of flavour. Super wine list and reasonable prices too. Can vouch for the scallops with brandy cream sauce and my partner had the Special pork dish cooked slow with herbs and beans. A taste sensation! Highly recommended and we’ll definitely be back.”

Frederic Cafe Bistro
Market Buildings, Maidstone, Kent ME14 1HP

Frederic Cafe Bistro are a modestly priced restaurant in Maidstone, Kent. The following experience comes from Alistair of Maidstone, “Frederic has had an expansion recently and now can accommodate double the number of diners. The food us simple french cuisine but done to a very high level. For starters we had crayfish & avocado, frois gras and duck salad. For mains, Sea Bass, Rabbit and Lamb. For dessert Plumb & Armognac tart, chocolate & raspberry brownie, and Lemon roulade. Delicious! Their wine list is almost all french but very comprehensive. A magical evening! Yum”

Mu Mu Restaurant
108-110 Week Street, Maidstone, Kent ME14 1RH

Read Jackie’s review of her experience at Mu Mu Restaurant in Maidstone, “A friend and I had a meal before our night out to the theatre. Surroundings beautiful, Food was excellent, but best of all the welcome and service by the staff couldn’t be faulted particularly Greg. ( think that was his name) will defiantly be coming back and recommending to all my family and friends. Thanks for a lovely start to our evening.”
