Google Chrome is Moving Towards a More Secure Web
Earlier this year, Google announced from January 2017, is will be making its web browser, Google Chrome, more secure. It will consider your website as “not secure” if you collect passwords or credit card information but don’t have an SSL installed on your website. An SSL not only encrypts credit card data, personal information, and passwords, but also displays a lock icon and “HTTPS” in the address bar—your visitors will know your site is protected.

If you collect data, whether that be passwords or credit card info, adding an SSL to your website not only secures it, but also allows you to avoid being branded as unsafe by Google.
